Yathra directed by Balu Mahendra most famous director of Tamil film.Mammootty won the State special jury award and best actor Filmfare award in 1985.
The film proved to be one of the best in Mammootty's career. He shaved off his hairs to act in this great movie at that time. Ilaya Raja's music and mammootty's wonderful performance put this movie as a big family hit.

Yathra ran more than 200 days in major centers. In trivandrum Shakthi Takis (Kripa), the movie ran more than 125 days. In Ernakulam, Saritha it ran more than 200 days.
